Good news for motorists as petrol prices fall in Newcastle and the Hunter

Local motorists can look forward to saving a bit of extra cash at the pump with petrol prices falling.

According to the Australian Institute of Petroleum, prices in the Hunter have slumped as low as $1.60 per litre in the week to September 22.

The average price of petrol last week in Maitland was just below the state average at $1.65 and in Newcastle prices were similar at $1.67.

It means prices have dropped by about 20 cents in Newcastle since the beginning of September and are at the lowest they’ve been all year. The closest plummet being to $1.77 back in January this year.

Meantime in the Valley, fuel was slightly higher averaging at $1.77 in Singleton.
