21 footy legends, Novocastrians and mates have raised more than $500,000 for the Mark Hughes Foundation.
Over the last week, Mark Hughes himself, Knights old boys Danny Buderus and Bill Peden, Roosters NRL Coach Trent Robinson plus 16 others, have been making their way to the Everest Base Camp Twin Peaks Summit, more than 5,000 metres above sea level.
They arrived at base camp yesterday where they enjoyed breathtaking views of the great Himalayas, Khumbu glacier and Icefall. The trekkers spent the night to see the sunrise and celebrate their incredible achievement.
Everyone was reported to be safe and well.
The group are due to return to Newcastle on October 28.
All of the money the team raised will go straight to brain cancer research.
