John Barilaro has announced he is quitting politics, stepping aside from the role of NSW Nationals Leader and in turn Deputy Premier.
He has released a statement this morning to say he will call for a Party Room meeting for Wednesday where he will formally resign as Leader and call for a ballot for a new Leader.
There will also be a by-election for the seat of Monaro where John Barilaro was first elected as the local Member in 2011.
John Barilaro is also the Minister for Regional NSW and the Minister for Industry and Trade.
He said “serving as Deputy Premier of NSW, as Leader of the NSW Nationals and as the Member for Monaro has been the honour and privilege of a lifetime”.
