Increased ‘seeding’ in regional NSW is a concern for NSW Health authorities.
The Hunter New England Health District recorded 82 cases to 8pm on Saturday night, another spike in cases.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said yesterday they want to help the regions bring the numbers down.
“Some of our regional areas certainly have some challenges and to the people living in those regional areas, each the public health team and the government are very keen to try and get you back to a position of freedom as soon as possible,” said brad Hazzard.
Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said there are challenges ahead in regional NSW.
“We are seeing seeding and an increase in cases,” she said.
“Another area [Newcastle] where we are seeing increased cases.”
“Pleases sustain those high rates of testing, be particularly vigilant as we see the increase in regional areas and go out and get vaccinated,”
“There is vaccine available for everyone.”
As of today, 66.5% of eligible residents in NSW are double dose vaccinated.
