Police say they’ve identified a man who was allegedly involved in coughing on an elderly couple at Nelson Bay on Sunday.
Investigations began after the couple reported the act, they say they were walking on Victoria Parade just before 2pm when a white Nissan Navara pulled up alongside them.
A man allegedly stuck his head out of the vehicle’s window and deliberately coughed at them and made retching sounds.
On Monday, police released a description of a man they wanted to speak to in relation to the incident, saying they already had a good idea about who may have been involved.
A Sydney man matching the description presented himself at Ryde Police Station last night.
The man’s been released pending further inquiries.
