A man’s been charged over the alleged theft of power tools in Newcastle last month.
Police began investigating the matter on the 22nd of January after charging a 50-year-old man with the theft of a bicycle at Hamilton.
The analysis of another break and enter crime scene allegedly revealed to police the same man was responsible for the theft of power tools.
Police searched a unit on Patrick Street at Merewether and found the tools and other items suspected of being stolen.
The man was arrested at a building site on Ring Road at Newcastle yesterday and was charged with several offences including three counts of making a false statement to a pawnbroker.
He’s been refused bail and will front Newcastle Local Court today.
