A man will front court after today being arrested on serious domestic violence charges last week.
Police say the 42-year-old was at a woman’s Hamilton East home where he grabbed her by the throat until she fell to the ground.
He allegedly punched her in the face repeatedly and stood on her chest and neck.
It’s believed the man then armed himself with a hammer and forced her to travel to his Bolton Point home where he held her against her will.
He eventually took her home but reportedly stole her car and house keys.
The woman alerted friends who then contacted police.
The man was arrested in Brunkerville yesterday afternoon and was charged with assaulting, choking, detaining and stalking the woman.
He’s been refused bail.
